Hi, Wabbits!
In the past I've often gotten behind on my bullet journaling, because I figured I would create each weekly layout the week before I needed it.
I have now learned that this is a poor decision. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn't. At least in my case. But when it doesn't work out, that means that I don't have a weekly layout ready for the week - and then I just don't know what to do with myself. My little brain can't handle the chaos.
So, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to finally tackle this issue! I basically spent an entire weekend getting ahead. I mean, super ahead. I had all of my layouts for the whole month of May done by mid-April.
My plan is to still sit down a few times per week to bullet journal, like I always have- but I'll stay ahead and make the pages WAY in advance. So, instead of working on the page that I'll use NEXT WEEK, I work on a page that I'll use in a month or two.
I actually think that this will be a really fun way of doing it - by the time I use that page a few weeks later, it won't be super fresh in my mind. It will be like Christmas morning! Each week I'll get to flip the page to a BRAND NEW weekly layout, that I don't even necessarily remember that well. HOW EXCITING!
Normal people may not get excited by this, but I'm fully aware that I am not normal.
Doing it this way also lets me have more fun with my layouts - because I don't feel super crunched to get it done tonight. I can play around a little more and it's more fun than stressful, which is the whole point of bullet journaling for me!
Over the past few months, I've also put more work into picking a specific theme for each month. I'm having a lot of fun with it! For the month of May I went with a rather broad "tropical" theme. This theme allowed me to use lots of fun colors and really got me in the mood for summer - which is fast approaching!
So, without further ado, enjoy my May pages!!
And my monthly calendar! This is a little different than my past ones, because I've added the "I Spent..." log on the side. I've changed the way I keep track of my monthly expenses a number of times over the years, and I still haven't quite found my perfect solution. I've always kept track of every single purchase on it's own page, and now I'm trying to simplify things! So this month I'm trying something new. I'm going to try listing the day and how much I spent (for example: "5/5 - $23.09"). I'll have to see what I think of this new approach!
Nothing says "summertime" like a fun-colored cocktail with a pretty pink flower! I love the washi tape at the top of this layout because it actually smells like lemons!
I think my favorite thing about this page is my coloring on the leaves of my pineapple! I decided to practice my colored pencil skills a bit, and I was happy with how it came out.
Palm trees are harder to draw than I expected! Luckily, with lots of trial and error, I ended up doing alright.
I won't lie to you. I realized that I had the fun tropical-vibed washi tape on the bottom of this layout, and created this page entirely to match it! This page is also a great example of why I love having some thin washi tapes in my collection - those pink stripes really bring some *pop* to the page!
This one was a bit of a struggle for me, because drawing people is not my strong suit. Her legs ended up a bit long, but overall I'm really happy with how she turned out!
Well, I hope you enjoyed my May pages! In the future I will try to post my monthly pages just before the month begins. Do you have a fun May theme for your bullet journal?
Happy May, everybun!
