Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • A dairy-free ranch that is creamy and full of flavor! Enjoy the ranch vibes with fully plant-based ingredients.
  • Quick & easy to make! Most of the recipe comes together in minutes, and even the oil-free version is simple if you prepare the oil-free vegan mayo ahead of time.
  • Versatile and packed with flavor! Use it as a salad dressing, a condiment for sandwiches and wraps, or a dip for veggies.

Key Ingredients

Ingredients for creamy vegan ranch dressing, including vegan mayo, chives, and seasonings.
  • Vegan mayo: gives our Vegan Ranch Dressing its creamy base. Can be store-bought for a quicker version, or you can use my Easy Vegan Mayo for an oil-free option.
  • Nondairy milk: optional, depending on how thin you want your dressing.
  • Coconut yogurt: adds a bit of tang, perfect for a homemade vegan ranch.
  • Fresh chives: optional, but adds some flavor and a beautiful pop of color.
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, & dill: for a classic ranch flavor!
  • Lemon juice & apple cider vinegar: for a tangy, zesty punch.

How to Make Easy Vegan Ranch Dressing

Measured vegan mayo, herbs, and spices, in a bowl before mixing into plant based ranch dressing.

Place the vegan mayo and all other ingredients in a bowl.

Mix everything together until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust seasonings if desired.

Recipe Tips

  • For the coconut yogurt, I highly recommend Culina Plain & Simple Coconut Yogurt. This has a great tang that is perfect for a homemade vegan ranch!
  • If making the oil-free vegan mayo, chill it in the fridge for 30–60 minutes for best results before making the ranch. You can even make it the day before so it’s ready to go!

Serving Suggestions

  • Drizzle over salads or buddha bowls for creamy texture and bold flavor.
  • Use as a dip for veggies, fries, or Buffalo Cauliflower Wings as a tasty snack.
  • Spread on sandwiches, wraps, or on a Chickpea Veggie Burger as a delicious dairy-free condiment.

Substitutions & Variations

  • The vegan mayo can easily be your favorite store-bought brand for convenience, or make the oil-free version at home!
  • Swap the dried parsley and dill for fresh herbs for an even brighter flavor! You'll want to increase the quantity slightly if using fresh.
  • Leave out the nondairy milk if you prefer a thicker vegan ranch dip. This is perfect for dipping veggies!
  • This ranch is very dill-forward. If you’re not a big fan of dill flavor, feel free to reduce the amount of dill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Homemade Vegan Ranch WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based)?

Yes! This recipe can be made WFPB by using the homemade oil-free vegan mayo. You can also leave out the coconut yogurt if it doesn’t fit your personal WFPB guidelines.

Can I use fresh herbs instead of dried?

Absolutely! Swap dried parsley and dill for fresh versions for a brighter flavor. Increase the quantity slightly if using fresh.

Why is typical ranch dressing not vegan?

Most traditional ranch recipes include dairy (such as sour cream or buttermilk), and mayo, which contains eggs. Luckily, this Homemade Vegan Ranch uses plant-based ingredients to achieve the same creamy, flavorful taste without any animal products!

This easy Homemade Vegan Ranch Dressing is creamy, flavorful, and perfect for salads or as a veggie dip.
*Note that From Start to Finish is an estimate that includes making the Oil-Free Vegan Mayo (5 minutes hands-on time, 1 hour passive time). Once the mayo is ready, the ranch comes together in just 5 minutes. If you use store-bought mayo, the whole thing takes only 5–10 minutes!
